Privacy Policy

Issuustack is an independent product made by FabMags LLC. We are not Issuu, Inc., we do not claim or pretend to be Issuu, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Issuu in any way. This policy covers Issuustack only. Issuu does not receive data from us, and what Issuu does with your data is covered by Issuu's own privacy policy.
- Your PDF files go straight from Issuu to your own computer. They never reach our servers.
- We keep your account and a record of your library, so you can see what you hold on any computer.
- We never see your Issuu password or your card number.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you on this website.
Who we are
Issuustack is made and run by FabMags LLC ("we", "us"), a limited liability company based in Texas, United States. We make the Issuustack Chrome extension and run this website, issuustack.com, and we are responsible for the personal data described here. For anything about your data, email support@issuustack.com.
Our terms of service cover plans, payments and refunds. What is the same across every FabMags LLC product, including payments, is in the FabMags LLC Privacy Policy.
What we collect, and why
Your account
- Email address and name, to sign you in and to send account emails such as password reset codes.
- Password, stored only as a one-way hash. We cannot read it.
- A sign-in token for each browser you use, so you stay signed in. Resetting your password signs out every browser.
Your Issuu account details
- Your Issuu username and account ID, to connect your library to your Issuustack account.
The record of your library
For each publication in your Issuu account:
- Its title, description, web address, page count, file size, publish and last modified dates, and cover image.
- The status details Issuu reports for it, such as whether it is unlisted.
- For each file you back up: the file name, its size, its SHA-256 checksum and when it was saved.
- A history of each backup run: what was backed up, what failed, and why.
We keep this so Issuustack can show which magazines you hold, avoid downloading the same file twice, enforce your plan, and keep a record of your catalogue after publications are removed from Issuu.
Billing
- Your plan, your Stripe customer and subscription references, and purchase dates.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly and never reach us.
Security
- The IP address and time of requests to our servers, used to limit abuse such as repeated sign-in attempts, and an activity log of account events such as sign-ins and password resets.
What we do not collect
- Your PDF files or their contents. Downloads travel from Issuu's servers to the folder you choose on your computer.
- Your Issuu password. You sign in to Issuu yourself, in your own browser.
- Your browsing history. The extension only works with Issuu and our own servers.
- Analytics or advertising data. This website sets no cookies and loads no trackers, analytics or ads.
How the Chrome extension uses its permissions
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
storage | Keeps your settings, your sign-in, your library list and progress in your browser, so a backup can resume after an interruption. |
alarms | Retries sending backup progress to our server if your connection dropped, so the record stays accurate. |
tabs | Opens the pages you ask for: Issuu's sign-in page, the Issuustack library page, and Stripe's checkout and billing pages. |
issuu.com, *.issuu.com | Reads your own library through the Issuu session in your browser, and checks whether you are signed in to Issuu. |
*.isu.pub, s3.amazonaws.com, *.cloudfront.net | Downloads your files and cover images from the storage services Issuu delivers them from. |
api.issuustack.com, api.thedevfactory.co | Our own servers, where your account and library record are kept. The second is a former address kept so older settings still work. |
The use of information received by the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide Issuustack's backup features, is never sold, is never used for advertising or creditworthiness, and is never read by people except for security, legal reasons, or when you ask us for support.
Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent personal data. We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, only to run the service:
- Stripe, for payments and subscriptions.
- Resend, to deliver account emails such as password reset codes.
- Our hosting provider, whose servers in South Africa store your account and library record.
We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the security of the service and its users.
Where your data is stored
Your account and library record are stored on servers in South Africa. Stripe and Resend may process data in the United States and other countries, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
- Your account and library record are kept while your account is open.
- When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and its library record, including stored cover images, within 30 days.
- Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Security logs are kept for no longer than 12 months.
Data kept only in your browser is removed when you uninstall the extension. Files you backed up stay on your computer until you delete them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under US state privacy laws, South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), which applies because our servers are in South Africa, and the EU and UK GDPR, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account and data.
- Stop or limit how we use your data, or object to it.
Email support@issuustack.com from the address on your account and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In South Africa that is the Information Regulator.
FabMags LLC, 1521 Primrose Place, Haslet, TX 76052, United States.
Security
All traffic to our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, password reset codes expire, and cover images are only ever served to the account they belong to.
Children
Issuustack is a tool for publishers and is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
